Gaines on the other hand is a little tricky. The former Rice player was drafted in 2014 in the third round by the Chiefs. He posted the fastest time for defensive backs at the combine, and has the size and speed Sutton wants out of his cornerbacks. His biggest problem is durability. He was dinged up in college, and his professional career has seen him miss some time as well. Now coming off an ACL tear Gaines’ starting job at corner might be jeopardy from Russell.

When it comes to the draft picks the Chiefs were able to pick up in this year’s draft. Russell has the all the skills necessary to be productive from day one. Russell is an interesting prospect, and if all goes well in the off season and through training camp and the preseason, Russell should be starting next to Peters when the 2016 NFL season hits.

What do you think, Addicts? Is Russell the new starter next to Peters? Who do you think will be the most productive for the Chiefs in 2016? Let us know in the comments.
