Goodell is selling and I’m not buying. It sickens me to think he’s trying to make the league attractive, based on someone else’s misfortune. Both the NFL channel and ESPN are equally culprits. How many times we’ve been shown Aaron Rodgers sitting and waiting to be drafted with that sinking look on his face?
It may begin to sound like I dislike the draft. However, the opposite is true and I simply can’t think of another sporting event… which doesn’t include an actual game… that I like as much as the NFL draft.
One of the most positive event during the first round was something that didn’t happen. I have been anticipating this draft for months like many of you but when it came time for the Kansas City Chiefs general manager to pull the lever… punch the ticket… make the call, so we could all finally know who would become the next player we spend months talking about but, something happened on the way to the Emerald city. John Dorsey traded the Chiefs first round pick and I couldn’t be more thrilled.
In a piece I published months ago, I said the very first option I was hoping for the Chiefs first round pick was… for it to get traded, ostensibly for the team to gain more draft picks. And that was long before the commissioner took away draft picks.
Next: Who do the Chiefs finally select?
