Once you get to the late fifth round, it becomes really difficult to predict what is going to happen. At this point you can pretty much throw rankings out the window because teams are just taking guys that have faults that they still like and think they can “fix”. I won’t go as in depth with the different options here. I’ll simply give you my picks and a few other players I like.

Round 5 – Pick 162

My Pick: Spencer Drango – OL – Baylor
6-foot-6 – 315 pounds

There are a lot of people down on Drango who was Baylor’s starting left tackle. I don’t think he can play tackle at the NFL level but I like what I see from Drango at the point of attack on the line of scrimmage. I think Drango will make a good starting NFL guard and given KC’s talent at the position could even start as a rookie.

Round 5 – Pick 165

My Pick: Deiondre’ Hall – CB/S – Northern Iowa
6-foot-2 – 199 pounds

Many see Hall as a future NFL safety but I see a young Sean Smith. Hall has arms longer than most offensive linemen (34 3/8 inches) and while he’ll need lots of technique work I would love to see what the Chiefs coaching staff could develop him into in their press man system.

Other players I like that could be in consideration in the 5th round:

LeShaun Sims – CB – Southern Utah
Jatavis Brown – LB – Akron

Sims is a promising press corner prospect from a tiny school and Brown is an undersized linebacker that flies all over the field.

Round 6 – Pick 203

My Pick: Vernon Adams – QB – Oregon
5-foot-11 – 200 pounds

Depending on who you listen to Vernon Adams is either an undrafted free agent who will hope to catch onto someone’s roster as a third string quarterback or the next Russell Wilson and the potential steal of this draft. I think the truth lies somewhere between the two. I would love to see what Andy Reid could do with the short but super talented Adams. I almost mocked him to KC in the fifth round but opted to address other needs and hope he falls to the sixth. I love Adams’ ability to keep his eyes up and looking downfield while on the run.

Round 7 – Pick 249

My Pick: Henry Krieger-Coble – TE – Iowa
6-foot-3 – 248 pounds

Krieger-Coble may not be an elite blocker or an elite pass catcher, but he does both well enough to be a perfect back up tight end. He was only a starter for one season but proved himself to be a reliable target for the Hawkeyes and gives great effort as a blocker despite his somewhat limited size and physical traits.

Other players I like that could be in consideration in the 6th/7th rounds:

Jeff Driskel – QB – Louisiana Tech
Daryl Worley – CB – West Virginia
Stephane Nembot – OT – Colorado

If the Chiefs can’t get their hands on Vernon Adams then Jeff Driskel is probably my next favorite late round quarterback prospect. Worley is a physical 6-foot-1 cornerback prospect that needs some serious technique work. Nembot is originally from Cameroon. He has the size and physical traits to be an NFL starting tackle but needs years of development first. He fits the John Dorsey outside the box project mold.

So what do you think Addicts? Do you like any of these picks? Do you think I’ve lost my mind? I’m guessing I may get some backlash on the Kenny Clark pick in the first round. What about drafting the German wideout in the fourth? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. Regardless, the countdown to the draft is upon us and I can’t wait to see how things play out!

As always, thanks for reading and GO CHIEFS!!!!!!!!
