Coffee with the Chiefs – Time to score
Good morning, Addicts! The Kansas City Chiefs are making their final preparations for the 2016 NFL Draft and it is starting to feel oh so real. The Chiefs are picking 28th in the first round and could go a bevy of different directions, although most believe a corner will be coming for the second time in as many years.
Kansas City could potentially move back as well with the corner class being deep and the team wanting to recoup its third-round pick after the tampering penalty involving Jeremy Maclin. The Chiefs have plenty of work to do, and we will have every angle covered leading up to, through and after the draft.
Here is the news you need to know…
Chiefs realize they must score more points in 2016 – Adam Teicher of ESPN
"Whether the thoughts of improvement are realistic or not, the Chiefs may need to make offensive gains if they’re going to make the playoffs for the second straight year. The Chiefs were ninth in scoring last year, but that standing was bolstered by six defensive touchdowns and a flurry of defensive takeaways that frequently gifted the offense short fields."
Kansas City might be wearing yellow uniforms in one game next season – Joel Wagler of KC Kingdom
"Yellow is probably the natural choice for the Chiefs. They have already gone with the red pants/red jerseys combination a few times in recent seasons. Yellow is part of their color scheme, and few colors can light up an HD screen like a blazing sun more than yellow."
Chiefs go with corner in 2016 NFL mock draft – Dan Kadar of SB Nation
"Burns has gotten some buzz as a potential surprise first-round pick next week, so getting him here is a nice value. He has all the tools to be developed into a good starter in the NFL, and will get that chance in Kansas City. Burns has some of the best hands among cornerbacks in this year’s draft, recording six interceptions and 13 passes defended last season."
