Coffee with the Chiefs – Reid’s rules

Good morning, Addicts! We are now one week from the 2016 NFL Draft, and I for one can’t contain my excitement. I’ll be at the proceedings, hoping to grab an interview with whoever becomes the newest member of the Chiefs Kingdom.

Of course, there will be plenty to talk about before then and now. The Chiefs and the rest of the NFL were thrown a serious curveball on Wednesday when the Carolina Panthers announced that they rescinded the franchise tag on Josh Norman, allowing him to become a free agent. It’s unlikely Kansas City gets in on this bidding war, but stranger things have happened.

Here is the news you need to know…

Chiefs players know Andy Reid is in charge of offense Joel Thorman of Arrowhead Pride

"Not that any of us know what role they’re going to have because we’ve assumed that the offense is Andy Reid’s territory. Pederson did stuff, yeah. But did anyone believe this offense wasn’t Andy Reid’s? It’s definitely a Big Red offense."

Phillip Gaines will be important piece regardless of positionAdam Teicher of ESPN

"But the Chiefs figure to add at cornerback before they start training camp, whether that’s through the draft or free agency. It’s difficult to picture them going into the season with just the rehabbing Gaines, Marcus Peters and the unproven Steven Nelson as their top three cornerbacks."

Eric Fisher feeling good after quality offseasonAdam Teicher of ESPN

"Still, it was the kind of performance that encourages the Chiefs that Fisher can become something close to the player they envisioned he would be when they drafted him with the first overall pick in 2013. It certainly seems to have sparked Fisher’s confidence."
