1. Los Angeles Rams (from TEN): Jared Goff – QB – California

Why?: The Rams got aggressive, so that pretty much guarantees they are looking at a QB.  Goff is the “local” boy for a team that is starting up in a brand new city.

That should help generate some excitement with the fan base and media.  Of course, they still have to win football games for this to pay off.

But why not…?: The other name being thrown out here is Carson Wentz.  A lot of analysts and scouts seem to think he’s the better player.  I call it a bit of a toss up between him and Goff, but the deciding factor here is that Wentz is coming from the FCS.

It’s a bit of a gamble to use the No. 1 overall pick on an FCS guy as is. Trading up for one?  Boy, you had better be more than sure he’s worth it…and I don’t know that anyone can make that argument.

2. Cleveland Browns: Carson Wentz – QB – North Dakota State

Why?: With Goff off the board, Wentz is the consensus best QB available.  Many people will shy away from this because the Browns have an awful history when it comes to drafting QBs.  But not getting it right before isn’t a reason to ignore it now.  The Browns still need a QB to lead this team, so keep trying.

Other option?: It’s being rumored that the Browns are shopping this pick.  I can see some logic to that with RGIII having been signed, but that’s a bit of a gamble.  They should get offers from the 49ers and Eagles.  Swapping spots with SF may not be a bad idea.  They could add picks and still (potentially) be in a spot to grab QB Paxton Lynch.
