2nd: Braxton Miller – WR – Ohio State:  Some folks don’t like the idea of taking on a project WR in the 2nd round, but I’m absolutely fine with it.

The team added Rod Streater on a “prove it” deal and he should be competing for the No. 2 job with Albert Wilson and Chris Conley who each have another year under their belt.  Miller’s potential is off the charts, and all those people against taking him would be kicking themselves a couple years from now when he turns into a star.

4th: Spencer Drango – OL – Baylor: The Chiefs still need to figure out the LG spot and Drango has the tools for the job.  He’ll take a little seasoning, but he could be the final piece to a young and talented OL for the next several years.  And getting that in the 4th is not a bad deal at all.

5th: Jatavis Brown – S – Akron: The Chiefs need to replace Husain Abdullah in the third S role.  Jatavis Brown is a freak athlete who is too small to be an every-down linebacker.  However, with his speed and athleticism, he fits almost perfectly in that role, especially playing next to Derrick Johnson as Nickel LB/S hybrid.

5th: Ben Braunecker – TE – Harvard:  I’m not sold at all on James O’Shaughnessy, and am even less sold on Brian Parker.  Heck, even the re-signed Demetrius Harris (whom I’ve been a big supporter of) still has plenty to prove.

Braunecker looks to be a solid all-around TE who gets dinged for playing in the Ivy League.  But with the number of bone-headed penalties the Chiefs seem to rack up, a little intelligence is not uncalled for.

6th: Victor Ochi – OLB – Stony Brook: There is no downside to taking Ochi in the 6th.  He’s a pass rusher who lived in the opposing backfield.  Of course, it was only the FCS, but his numbers are still incredibly impressive.  Bringing him in as a situational pass rusher could be an excellent boost on 3rd downs.

7th: Ken Crawly – CB – Colorado: The Chiefs would do well to keep churning the bottom of the secondary group until they can find some better options than Jamell Fleming, Daniel Sorenson, and Marcus Cooper.  Even with the Special Teams value of those players, there is no reason to not try and upgrade from them.

Well, that will do it for me Addicts.  Next week I will be putting out my official prediction for this year’s draft.  My streak is on the line and I’m sure I will completely over-think it.  But, maybe I’ll pull a rabbit out again like I did last year…

  • 2015: Ramik Wilson (4th Rd)
  • 2014: Dee Ford (1st Rd)
  • 2013: Eric Fisher (1st Rd); Nico Johnson (4th Rd)
  • 2012: Devon Wylie (4th Rd)
  • 2011: Ricky Stanzi (5th Rd)
  • 2010: Eric Berry (1st Rd)

As you can see, keep an eye on my first and fourth-round picks.
