New England Patriots: The Patriots have made their annual re-signing of running back LeGarrette Blount.  For whatever reason, this move always seems to work out for them while other teams can’t get anything from him.  The Pats waived defensive tackle Dominique Easley.  The former first round pick had not been able to stay healthy or crack the starting lineup in his first two seasons.

  • Chiefs’ Take: There’s definitely no harm in extending Easley a camp invite.  He would fit into the same category as Alameda Ta’amu.  Worst case scenario is that neither guy makes the team and cost the Chiefs nothing.  Best case is that both suddenly live up to their draft/pre-draft hype and become quality players.

New Orleans Saints: Former Saints star lineman Will Smith was shot and killed during a confrontation over what appears to be road rage.  This story is still developing with new information coming out.  The shooter is claiming that he was not the aggressor, a statement that appears to be corroborated by witness statement and security camera footage.

Author’s Take

: There is still a lot of information yet to come out on this incident, but it appears to be a case where nobody is innocent.  From all the evidence that I have seen so far, it seems like there were about a half dozen times where either one and/or both of these individuals could and should have acted more like an adult.

New York Jets: The Jets have traded a 5th round pick for Denver offensive tackle Ryan Clady and a 7th round pick.  If Clady can stay healthy, the move should help fill the hole left by D’Brickshaw Ferguson’s retirement.

Washington Redskins: The Redskins have added former Colts cornerback Greg Toler to their secondary.

Well, that will do it for me Addicts.  Be sure to check back in next week for another round up of all the NFL news and rumors.
