Pick 26 (Seahawks) / Pick 27 (Packers)

We all know by now how deep and impressive this draft’s defensive linemen class is. Despite Jaye Howard’s return, the Chiefs should definitely be considering one of the many quality defensive linemen considering the lack of depth at the position on the roster and Dontari Poe’s contract ending after this season.

Whether it be Andrew Billings, Vernon Butler, or A’Shawn Robinson, the Chiefs will likely have several options to choose from. With the Seahawks and Packers holding the last two picks before the Chiefs’ selection, however, we could very well see two consecutive defensive linemen coming off the board. This could make the difference in a defensive lineman being available that the Chiefs ‘love’ and that the Chiefs only ‘like’ and make them have to lean towards a more pressing need.

All in all, whether you want to call it a ‘wishlist’ or ‘best case scenario’, the Chiefs want four things to happen; Paxton Lynch falling to 28, at least two of the trio of Mackensie Alexander, William Jackson, and Eli Apple being available, one or both of Noah Spence or Leonard Floyd to consider, and a plethora of defensive linemen to choose from.

This would put the Chiefs in a situation where they could trade down to accumulate picks and still come away with a solid first pick or simply stay put at 28 and choose from any number of prospects that could be immediate contributors.

What do you guys think of these scenarios? What other scenarios do you believe the Chiefs want to happen in order to feel comfortable and excited about their first selection in the 2016 NFL Draft?
