Jamaal Charles: Would you do this deal?

Would you make this trade that sends Jamaal Charles packing?

Sometimes in sports, you have to put your emotions aside and make a critical decision. With the Kansas City Chiefs, we are emotionally invested in Jamaal Charles like few other players. He has been nothing short of brilliant since being drafted in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft out of the University of Texas.

All that said, NFL.com came up with six trades it wants to see happen, and one was the Indianapolis Colts sending a 2017 second-round pick to the Chiefs for Charles.

Frankly, I would demand that pick in the upcoming draft because Indianapolis stunk this year, and the Chiefs are trying to win right now. Moving Charles for a second-round pick would be extremely tempting considering Charles is 29 years old and coming off a torn ACL for the second time in his career.

All that said, I would not do the deal. While a second-rounder is a very nice return, you are trading Charles to a potential contender in the AFC and weakening your roster in a season that is about the Super Bowl. Sometimes, you need to simply go for the brass ring and if this isn’t one of those times, then why sign Tamba Hali and Derrick Johnson?
