I’m dubious to the Chiefs chances of landing a corner at 28. Historically, when drafts are extremely deep at a position, teams will take players at other positions, believing they can grab someone else in the next round(s). With only one true speed, game breaking wide receiver prospect on the board in Baylor’s Corey Coleman, it won’t and shouldn’t be surprising to see corners come off the board early.

With this fact in mind, lets explore some names that could be on the board for the Chiefs at positions outside of corner. I will highlight a couple prospects that I believe fit what the Chiefs are trying to do, both in the short term but also makes sense down the road.

If the Chiefs can’t find a corner, the next position group that I look at is defensive tackle. It should be noted, that both Andey Reid and John Dorsey’s previous teams, while they were there, liked to draft defensive lineman early, and did so fairly often.  My favorite is Louisiana Tech’s Vernon Butler.

Behind him is Alabama’s A’Shawn Robinson. Both players fit what the Chiefs do on defense and what they look for.
