The Kansas City Chiefs and a handful of other teams are reportedly in love with a German wide receiver.
It is not often that a guy comes out of virtually nowhere (in this case, Germany) to shock scouts and send shockwaves through the National Football League. Yet, that is apparently what happened on Thursday at the Florida Atlantic University pro day, when Moritz Boehringer went off in a huge way.
Despite coming in at 6-foot-2 and 227 pounds, the German ran the 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds and knocked out the 3-cone drill in a ridiculous 6.65 seconds. In fact, all of his measurbales would have put him in the top five of the receivers class this year at the NFL Scouting Combine, according to NFL.com.
Then there was this little nugget in the story…
"Chiefs GM John Dorsey, receiving a report from his scout on the ground at FAU, called Boehringer’s agent, Kyle Strongin, in the middle of the workout and requested a visit."
At first, I genuinely thought this was an early April Fool’s joke, but it isn’t. Boehringer is going to be coming to Kansas City for a visit sometime in the future and projects as a third-day pick who is shooting up draft boards. Considering Dorsey loves to think outside the box, this could be a Kansas City selection all the way.
