Coffee with the Chiefs – Update on Houston
Good morning, Addicts! It’s Thursday and with that, we are cruising toward another weekend. We are also at the last day of March, which gives us some hope that the warm weather is not all that far off.
As for the Kansas City Chiefs, we continue to track all the mock drafts as we are four weeks away from the 2016 NFL Draft in Chicago. Kansas City will be picking 28th in the first round, and there will be ample options when the Chiefs are on the clock. The question is who will general manager John Dorsey go with?
Here is the news you need to know…
Chiefs say Justin Houston did not re-injure his knee in playoffs – Kerouac Smith of FOX Sports
"Speaking on a conference call to reporters, Dorsey said “No, he did not reinjure it (in the playoffs). The training staff, they all had a plan together to kind of work through this thing. There was a timeline estimate and he slowly began to get out there and practice, and you could see that everything was … I mean, it was good, it was stable, it functioned.”"
Kansas City still looking at veteran free agents – Joel Thorman of Arrowhead Pride
"Steven Nelson is one the Chiefs options for a third cornerback. The 2015 third round pick didn’t play much last season – save one moment in the Texans playoff game when Peters’ shoe fell off and Nelson broke up a pass – so he’s more or less an unknown for us but Dorsey said he’s made “great strides” in KC."
Looking at Kansas City’s roster bubble after free agency – Stagdsp of Arrowhead Pride
"It’s pretty clear that John Dorsey’s strategy revolved around keeping the Chiefs own free agents. Bringing back Eric Berry, Tamba Hali and Derrick Johnson seemed like a no-brainer, but Jaye Howard and Mitchell Schwartz were nice surprises."
