Good morning, Addicts! The Kansas City Chiefs are heading into draft season, with the opening night now less than a month away. Of course, we will continue to speculate on who th Chiefs might have their eye on, particularly early on in the process.
Frankly, it has to be a cornerback in this guy’s opinion. For all the chatter about Paxton Lynch, the Chiefs have a good starter there and two young backups. Meanwhile, I don’t get the idea that edge rusher is now a need. Justin Houston is coming back, and wasting a first-round pick to replace an All-Pro for six games is insane.
Here is the news you need to know…
Chiefs are now better on offense, worse on defense – Adam Teicher of ESPN
"The changes on offense look mostly like upgrades. That’s true for right tackle (where Mitchell Schwartz has been one of the best in the business), running back (assuming Jamaal Charles returns from his torn ACL as the player we remember him being) and slot receiver (where De’Anthony Thomas and others didn’t deliver much for the Chiefs last season)."
Should Chiefs have found Justin Houston’s injury sooner? – Adam Teicher of ESPN
"Houston injured his knee in a Nov. 29 game against the Buffalo Bills. But though Houston was examined by Chiefs’ doctors and got a second opinion from noted orthopedic surgeon James Andrews in December, the damaged ACL wasn’t detected until Houston was having arthroscopic surgery on the injured knee in early February."
Full draft order is out, Chiefs have seven picks – Joel Thorman of Arrowhead Pride
"The Chiefs have one pick in each round with their third round pick forfeited. They gained a second fifth round pick with the Kelcie McCray trade to Seattle last year. (McCray, by the way, has turned into a good player) The Chiefs do not have any compensatory picks this year but probably will next year. So they will still have seven total picks."
