With time, their investment into a quarterback-of-the-future late in the first round, could very well make the Chiefs a viable contender in the AFC for years to come. Now’s the perfect time to extend the postseason shelf life for a team with one of the youngest rosters in the National Football League. If Paxton Lynch is sitting there at 28, despite more pressing needs, I think it’s imperative that the Chiefs take him.
Being groomed in a winning organization often has a maximum payoff in this league. Just ask the Seventy-Two Million Dollar Man Brock Osweiler. He slow cooked in Denver and the result of his grooming in that organization helped him land a major opportunity with the Houston Texans this offseason. Time will tell if he was ultimately worth that contract after just seven NFL starts.
Were you John Dorsey, might you consider Lynch with the 28th selection in the first round? Which players are on your Round One radar? Can Lynch benefit from time to grow into an NFL offense or would he be better served by going to a team where he can be a Day 1 starter? Use the comment section below to chime in on the discussion.
