Round 7
Chris Brown – WR – Notre Dame
Strengths: Technically sound receiver that takes well to coaching. Puts the extra effort into understanding how to play football. Quality short area receiver who can catch and go. Shows effort in his blocking. Doesn’t quit on plays and will work to help a scrambling QB. Good concentration and coordination to make tough catches. Generally reliable hands. His work ethic is contagious and he builds trust with those around him quickly.
Weaknesses: Nothing about Brown stands out with average speed, average athleticism, average quickness, and average size. While his hands are generally reliable, he will drop the occasional pass. Was never able to put up anything more than just average production. Limited ceiling.
The Fit: Brown does the little things that will make him valuable to a team. Downfield blocking, Special Teams, and team-first mentality make him an ideal depth receiver. The casual fan won’t get too excited about him, but having players that do those little things can be the difference between a good team and a championship team. His presence on the roster would also allow the Chiefs to move on from more expensive veterans being asked to do the same job.
Well, that’s going to do it for this week, Addicts. As we close in on draft day, I’m going to work in some more variables regarding trades and perhaps a surprise pick or two.
