Outside Linebacker

Similar to defensive line, the Chiefs have clear starters here but need to do a better job with acquiring depth players who can get to the quarterback and then using these players to keep Tamba Hali and Justin Houston. Dee Ford has been with the Chiefs for two seasons now but has yet to show anything as a pass rusher besides a speed rush.

While there’s still hope for him, the Chiefs need to start developing other pass rushers. Here’s a versatile guy who can do many different things on the football field.

Leonard Floyd – Georgia – 6’6″, 244 lbs

I know what you’re thinking, why would the Chiefs select another undersized pass rusher who gets compared to Dee Ford? Well, the reason is that outside of being undersized and speedy, Floyd and Ford aren’t all that similar. Floyd has already shown the ability to use his hands and employ countermoves to get to the quarterback.

On top of this, he’s shown the ability to comfortably play in space and even played a significant amount of snaps at inside backer in college. Floyd would provide a very interesting player on the Chiefs defense with the capability of filling in for either Hali or Houston or lining up inside next to Derrick Johnson on passing downs in the Husain Abdullah/Daniel Sorensen role.
