Wide Receiver

I’d be a little weary of the Chiefs selecting a WR in the first round considering the difficulty of getting acclimated with all the nuances and terminology of Reid’s offense, but there’s one guy who, if available, might be too good to pass up.

The signings of Mitchell Schwartz and Rod Streater were moves made in order for the Chiefs to open up their offense. Here’s a guy who can help with that.

Corey Coleman – Baylor – 5’11”, 194 lbs

In my eyes, Coleman would be to the Chiefs what the Chiefs try to get out of Albert Wilson. An undersized but speedy outside receiver who can take the top off a defense, Coleman would be a scary weapon opposite Jeremy Maclin. He is a better tracker of the deep ball than Wilson and would allow the Chiefs to connect on the post and go routes more consistently.

Coleman certainly has his flaws as he relies on body catching a little too often and struggles to bring passes in over the middle, but his positives may outweigh the negatives.
