14. San Diego Chargers
The Chargers were a tough team to peg, but I’m going on the pessimistic side for a few reasons. The signings of nose tackle Brandon Mebane and cornerback Casey Hayward were solid, but this defense is still in trouble. Outside of Melvin Ingram, the pass rush is still horrible and the front seven still lacks at inside linebacker and end (opposite of Corey Liuget).
San Diego will be able to throw the ball but it still has no running game with a middling offensive line and Melvin Gordon in the backfield. Last year, Gordon and I tied with the same amount of touchdowns.
13. Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins will get love from some of the experts after going into the offseason and making splashes with the trades of Byron Maxwell and Kiko Alonso, but this is a bad, flawed team. Miami does not have a great offense mostly because there is no running back or second weapon outside Jarvis Landry.
Defensively, the front four are fine but the back seven are a total mess. Miami will struggle to guard anybody in the passing game with sub-par linebackers and no talent in the secondary to speak of. The Dolphins released Brent Grimes, an aging but still talented player. Without him, yikes.
