Coffee with the Chiefs – Going after receivers

facebooktwitterreddit

Good morning, Addicts! It’s Tuesday, so we are getting through the work week together. The Kansas City Chiefs dropped a bomb on all of us yesterday, deciding to appeal the National Football League’s penalty for Kansas City allegedly tampering with Jeremy Maclin last year.

Forget about a bias point of view on this. The Chiefs are getting screwed by losing both their third-round pick this year and a sixth-round selection in 2017. Every team in the league does this nonsense and while the Chiefs got caught and deserve a punishment, giving them this is insane. Commissioner Roger Goodell needs to stand down, then just do us a favor and step down.

Here is the news you need to know…

Chiefs spending on receivers is up from 2015Adam Teicher of ESPN

"Spending on wide receivers is up for the Kansas City Chiefs from 2015, and they are no longer near the bottom of the league in that area."

Chiefs’ offense on fire with the return of Jamaal CharlesDan Salem of NFL Spin Zone

"Of course, saying all of that, the main move for Kansas City in 2016 is nothing they had to do in terms of a new contract. It’s getting Jamaal Charles back from injury. Although KC ran it well last year, it missed Charles’ burst and game-changing ability. With Jeremy Maclin, Travis Kelce and even Alex Smith back around, I like the Chiefs’ offense moving forward. As odd as this sounds, it may now be their strength."

Kansas City scouting report: Josh DoctsonLeigh Oleszczak of KC Kingdom

"While the Chiefs have Chris Conley and Albert Wilson on the roster and recently added Rod Streater on a one-year deal, it’s still important for the team to look at the options in the draft this year. One of the best available is TCU’s Josh Doctson."
