Chiefs draft: Secondary preview
By Ben Almquist
Jalen Mills – LSU
Scout’s View: Mills was injured in the offseason and missed some time early in the season while recovering from a fractured fibula. Mills isn’t as physical as teams would like in run support but will do what he has to. In man coverage, he’s rock solid until he has to chase vertical jackrabbits and then it can get a little dicey. Mills will probably get action in sub packages early on, but might not be the every-down player that some expect. ~ Lance Zierlein (NFL.com)
Top Comparison: Darius Butler – Indianapolis Colts ~ Dane Brugler (CBS)
My Take: There’s some open discussion as to whether Mills will be a corner or safety in the NFL, and that puts him in an intriguing spot if the Chiefs are interested. Kansas City loves versatility and Mills has it. He can play safety, interior corner, or out on an island, and hold his own at each spot.
