On paper and in whole the Kansas City Chiefs are looking like the true AFC West powerhouse. They have a solid quarterback in Alex Smith, who while not going off for 400 yards a game, is careful with the ball. His ability to get away from defenders with his legs puts him up on whoever Denver attempts to bring in. The other players on the offense, with time, should really begin to come together to be a more complete offense. Throw in a recovering Jamaal Charles and this offense might go from decent, to scary.

The defense, even with all the free agents pending deals, could still be as disruptive as they were a year before. Yes, it is looking more and more like Sean Smith might be leaving, but don’t count out general manager John Dorsey, who has surprised KC fans with his dealings. They still have safety Eric Berry and Defensive Rookie of the Year Marcus Peters. Pairing them with a re-signed Tamba Hali, Dee Ford and Justin Houston should be epic.

While this is all speculation for the upcoming year, it is still fun to imagine what the AFC West will now shape up to be with all the changes to Denver and how the rest of the conference goes. But the fact that the Chiefs might just be the most stable on both sides of the ball brings hope for a possible AFC West title in 2016.
