Ben Grubbs won’t be playing offensive line for the Chiefs in 2016.

In a somewhat shocking move, news broke late last night that the Chiefs cut guard, Ben Grubbs. The reasoning appears to be for a failed physical.

The Chiefs traded for Grubbs last year and gave him a four-year deal. In the end, however, Grubbs only played a handful of games in KC before landing on IR.

It is a shame that the Chiefs won’t be able to count on Grubbs, especially after losing G Jeff Allen in free agency. Look for Zach Fulton to step up and take over Grubbs’ starting spot.

There is also a chance the Chiefs may look for more help along the interior of the offensive line later in free agency. As teams make signings, they will also make cuts to massage the salary cap.

It was a bit of a mixed day for the Chiefs yesterday. The team was able to bring back Derrick Johnson and landed a big signing in T Mitchell Schwartz. However, KC also was hit with a tampering penalty from the NFL, costing the team a third-round pick and a sixth-round pick.

Oh yeah, and Sean Smith signed with he Raiders.
