The Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders are reportedly fighting for Sean Smith.

This is one of those times you put on your best fan hat and just cheer until the end. The Chiefs, who long ago were assumed to have lost Smith in free agency to a deep-pocketed suitor, are now reportedly in the mix to bring back the 28-year-old cornerback.

Smith has been with the Chiefs for the past three seasons after signing an $18 million deal in 2013. Smith had a choice then between the Raiders and Kansas City, and wisely took the red and gold (or yellow, as I will say until the day I die). Right now, the Chiefs have the cap space to get the job done, although it could cost in excess of $12 million/year, with the first year being a significantly lower cap hit.

This is going to be a fascinating story if general manager John Dorsey is able to retain Smith. Most thought he was long gone, only to find out Kansas City is not done yet.
