Coffee with the Chiefs – Problem up front?
Good morning, Addicts! It’s Friday, and that in its own right is a beautiful thing that needs to be celebrated from coast to coast. There is nothing better than walking out of work at the end of a Friday shift, knowing that you can enjoy the next 48+ hours without nonsense getting in the way.
As for the Kansas City Chiefs, they are about to take on a $4 million cap hit if they don’t get a new deal done with Tamba Hali by today’s deadline. The hit comes from the four voiding years that were added when Hali took a paycut during last year’s offseason.
Here is the news you need to know…
Chiefs have no sure things at guard going into 2016 – Joel Thorman of Arrowhead Pride
"The good news is that the Chiefs do have plenty of bodies and plenty of options. The bad news is that there’s not really a single sure thing at guard entering next season. GM John Dorsey has his work cut out for him attempting to choose the right direction for the Chiefs interior line."
What type of character is Kansas City concerned with in the draft? – Stagdsp of Arrowhead Pride
"Presumably, the team understands that there are things you can teach and things you can’t. You can’t make a player love football or be motivated or have a high motor. Other than talent, passion / motor is the most important variable that determines success, and it’s often more important than raw talent. John Dorsey says it all the time, he’s looking for players that love football."
Jeff Allen brought toughness to Chiefs’ offensive line in 2015 – Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star
"This was Jan. 16, the date of the Chiefs’ 27-20 divisional-round loss to the New England Patriots, and Allen was allowing the disappointment to settle in when a realization hit the offensive lineman: It had been a long time since he’d been forced to deal with a defeat, at least as a starter."
