Coffee with the Chiefs – Who’s next?
Good morning, Addicts! It’s Thursday, which means we are rolling toward the weekend. It’s a beautiful thing, knowing that for two days, you are the master of your own schedule. I can’t speak for the rest of you fine folks, but I’ll be relaxing, eating a bag of Popchips, and enjoying some quality time with the pooch.
As for the Kansas City Chiefs, there are plenty of things to watch for. Does generla manager John Dorsey land some deals wioth the guys about to hit the market? Can Tamba Hali be brought back? Does Dorsey pull the stunner and retain Sean Smith?
Here is the news you need to know…
After tagging Eric Berry, what is next for Chiefs? – Adam Teicher of ESPN
"Here’s my ranking of their potential unrestricted free agents in order of how important they are to the 2016 Chiefs. In other words, the top player on the list will be the most difficult for them to immediately replace, the second player the second-most-difficult to replace, and on down the line."
Sean Smith is going to be paid as a free agent – Joel Thorman of Arrowhead Pride
"The Chiefs only hope of keeping him was through the franchise tag, which they used on Eric Berry instead (not that Berry was the wrong decision). That’s because I could make an argument that Smith is the best free agent cornerback hitting the market on March 9. He has rare size (6’3) that many teams covet and he’s coming off three consecutive solid seasons in Kansas City."
Chiefs scouting report: Reggie Ragland – Leigh Oleszczak of KC Kingdom
"Ragland, a senior out of Alabama, is considered to be the best inside linebacker available in this year’s draft. He’s also considered to be a top 20 prospect. He was voted as the SEC Defensive Player of the Year in 2015, which looks nice next to being a National Champion."
