Jaye Howard

What the Chiefs lose – Howard was a force on the defensive line all season as he consistently hurried quarterbacks and stuffed running backs. His rise from Seattle cast off to 5.5 sacks in 2015 is meteoric. Many see Howard just hitting his stride and he could be a stalwart along any defensive line for years to come.

What the Chiefs gain – The Chiefs already have good but not great defensive ends in Allen Bailey and Mike DeVito. While DeVito struggled a bit this season, it may have been because he was still working back from his Achilles tear from 2014. Howard will command a hefty price tag while Bailey and DeVito may stay on for much cheaper.

However the Chiefs turn out in free agency, Dorsey has stated that he plans on not letting good players go. He wants to retain Johnson, Berry, DeVito and Hali. We will see how this plays out in the coming days and weeks.
