6th Round
Geronimo Allison – WR – Illinois
Strengths: Tall with long arms, Allison is a natural match-up nightmare for defensive backs. Good speed and acceleration to be a deep-ball threat. Shows good quickness, agility, and balance that allows him to naturally create separation in his routes. Good hands and understands how to high point the ball. A willing blocker with a bit of a mean streak to him.
Weaknesses: Still more potential than proven product. While he has all the tools, they don’t always show up in cohesion with one another. Route running can get sloppy at times and he will have a tendency to double catch some throws. While his height is great, his frame may not be conducive to adding the weight he’ll need at the NFL level. Skinny arms and legs.
The Fit: While there is some reason for excitement with the youth in the Chiefs WR corps, there is still a ways to go and the team is best served by continuing to mix in more talent to compete. Allison is a bit of a project, but he has some big play potential that the coaching staff can work with. He would be an excellent fit as a deep threat, or in the screen game when given space. His downfield blocking is an added bonus to that effort.
