Justin Houston underwent knee surgery

Kansas City Chiefs outside linebacker Justin Houston had arthroscopic knee surgery this offseason.

In a note that can’t surprise many, Kansas City Star beat writer Terez Paylor tweeted that Justin Houston underwent knee surgery this offseason, cleaning up some of the damage from his sprain that he sustained in Week 12 against the Buffalo Bills. This was backed up by Pro Football Talk.

Obviously, Hali was also dealing with a sore knee throughout the end of the season, so a surgery was likely for him as well. Considering the nature of these surgeries, both Houston and Hali should be able to participate fully in the entire offseason program.

Houston missed the final five regular-season games (of which Kansas City was 5-0) before returning in the playoffs. The 2014 sack champion was not able to play like himself, however, dealing with a bulky knee brace. Against the New England Patriots, Houston only played eight snaps before sitting the rest of the night.

Look for Houston to be at 100 percent come training camp, while Hali should be refreshed as well. If there is ever a time to have knee surgery, now is it.
