Jalen Mills – CB – LSU

Strengths: Athletic and fast with a propensity for running routes better than the opposing wide receiver, Mills shows exceptional fluidity in his movements and is able to recover from false steps.  Confident in his abilities and aggressive in his attack.

Mills is extremely versatile with quality starting experience in multiple roles over his career as a four year starter.  Quality special teams player and a team leader.

Weaknesses: Lacks ideal size and strength which really shows up in run defense.  Relies on his athleticism and shows inconsistent technique.

The Fit: A first round talent with a third round grade due to multiple questions and concerns, Jalen Mills has the potential to fill a number of roles for a team that needs general secondary help.  His best position is working out of the slot, but he can be used on an island on the outside, or filling in as a safety when needed (which would work very well with Kansas City’s secondary scheme).  The baggage is a concern, but the Chiefs have shown they can work with that, and Andy Reid has built his reputation on it.
