Good morning, Addicts! It’s HUMP DAYYYYYYY. I’m glad to be back with Coffee with the Chiefs after missing the last few days. I’ve been traveling all over the place, but come Wednesday night, I’ll be home and back in action for the very foreseeable future.
But that is enough about me. The Kansas City Chiefs are hoping to keep their team together this offseason and owner Clark Hunt feels very good about the situation they are in. In fact, Hunt even talked about perhaps being in the best cap position the team has enjoyed in ions.
Here is the news you need to know…
Clark Hunt says Chiefs are in great salary cap position – Joel Thorman of Arrowhead Pride
"Something that didn’t get talked about enough last year was the amount of dead money the Chiefs had. Dead money is salary cap space devoted to players no longer on the roster (hi, Dwayne Bowe). Last year alone, the following players accounted for more than $1 million in cap space: Dwayne Bowe, Brandon Flowers, Anthony Fasano, Vance Walker, Ryan Succop and Joe Mays. Flowers and D-Bowe combined for almost $13 million. None of those players were Chiefs last year."
Two best moments of the Chiefs season – Seth Keysor of Arrowhead Pride
"On one hand, Berry’s return obviously carries more real-world importance than a football game. The man had cancer. CANCER. Hodgkins lymphoma. I mean, holy crap. All the talk after he was diagnosed (by myself and other fans) revolved around whether he was going to live. The more optimistic of us hoped that he’d play again one day. Coming back less than a year later is an unbelievable, real world story of strength and perseverance that is… well, it’s staggering."
