Kansas City’s defense has been predicated on the ability to play multiple fronts and be able to still shut down the running game of the other team to a certain extent. Berry’s presence in the defensive backfield helps that cause. Between Eric, Justin Houston and Derrick Johnson the Chiefs can play more in a nickel type package and still be able to slow the run game down. They don’t need to be lined up in their base defense to stop the running game. This distinction alone gives them a big advantage over an offense.

What Berry brings to this Chiefs team can’t be measured in his plays on the field alone. He is a fantastic football player that works harder than anyone. His passion for life and for football, his attitude, his discipline, his command of the respect of his teammates and his ability to lead are all qualities that surpass any contribution he could make on the field.

The best leaders will always be those that are able to lead from the front line. People in general are inspired by those that overcome great obstacles in their lives and succeed anyway. Football players are no different. Eric Berry is an inspiration to anyone in the NFL today; not only for the passion and heart he plays with but for his story and his ability to overcome.

What do you think, Addicts? Do you think Berry’s contributions can be measured in play alone?
