The Kansas City Chiefs have an insanely easy schedule in 2016, especially at Arrowhead Stadium. After falling in the AFC Divisional round against the New England Patriots, many Kansas City players talked about the need to get a first-round BYE next season. This portion of the schedule will be vital to that goal.
Next year, the Chiefs will obviously face their three division rivals, the Denver Broncos, San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders. Outside of those teams, Kansas City draws the Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints and New York Jets.
Of those eight teams, only two had winning records in Denver and New York. The quarterbacks for those teams are Brock Osweiler and Ryan Fitzpatrick. Kansas City has proven it can beat Denver (it should have been two beatings instead of one) and while the Jets are good, the Chiefs are better and at home.
It has not been since 2003 when the Chiefs went undefeated at Arrowhead Stadium, but this schedule certainly lines up for it. While Kansas City could lose any of these games, it will be a favorite in all of them. In most cases, the Chiefs will be a heavy one.
In 2016, it is finally Super Bowl or bust. This is a very good team that might have gone all the way this season if not for a slew of injuries. If the health can be a bit better and general manager John Dorsey takes care of business this offseason, there is no reason not to believe.
The first step is winning the AFC West for the first time since 2010. Going 8-0 at home would go a long way towards that mission.
