Travis Kelce’s dating show could impact Chiefs

So, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is going to star in his own dating show on E!, Catching Kelce. The show will have 50 women, one from each state, competing to be the future Mrs. Kelce. If nothing else, the entertainment level of this should be epic.

However, let’s step back and try to udnerstand how much this could impact the team. Will the Chiefs be bothered by their star tight end trying to find love on the small screen in front of a national audience, or is this a non-issue? Certainly, there will be differing opinions, but both deserve some thought.

It would stand to reason that the show will be shot in the offseason, probably the next few months. With that timeline, Catching Kelce is likely to come in either in the summer or fall, which would be right in the middle of Kansas City’s quest for a Super Bowl. Does that hurt the Chiefs, or simply give them some more national exposure?

Personally, I don’t think it makes much of a difference. Kelce isn’t going to be filming during the season and it’s a dating show, not being arrested or something negative. In the meantime, Kelce becomes more of a national brand and with him, so do the Chiefs. It can’t hurt to get some limelight, provided Kelce continues to work hard. Considering it is his free-agent season, that should be a given.
