Coffee with the Chiefs – Mocking the draft
Good morning, Addicts! The Kansas City Chiefs and their fans are at that time of the year where the only things that matter are free agents, contracts and draft choices.
We all know how this goes. There will be a million rumors out there, telling us that certain players are coming and going. In the end, general manager John Dorsey will laugh and do whatever he wants anyway, both in free agency in the draft. Dorsey likely has a good idea of how free agency is going to play out, but the draft? Still a mystery.
Here’s the news you need to know…
Who will the Chiefs be replacing with these mock drafts – Joel Thorman of Arrowhead Pride
"He gives the Chiefs these other options: Kendall Fuller (CB, Virginia Tech), Spencer Drango (OT, Baylor). Both of these are good options too. The Chiefs do need another cornerback if Smith leaves. I know Phillip Gaines is coming back but KC is using so many defensive backs they could use one. Offensive tackle? The Chiefs absolutely need one with Donald Stephenson and Jeff Allen hitting free agency in March."
Looking at Kansas City’s offseason schedule – Joel Thorman of Arrowhead Pride
"An assistant coach, whose team is participating in the Super Bowl, who has previously interviewed for another club’s head coaching job may have a second interview with such club no later than the Sunday preceding the Super Bowl."
John Dorsey is optimistic that the Chiefs can take next step – Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star
"Only a few days after the Chiefs’ season came to screeching halt with an AFC Divisional playoff loss to New England on a cold afternoon in Foxborough, Mass., Dorsey and his team of scouts found themselves interviewing potential draftees at the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl last week in sunny Los Angeles."
