This might seem like an odd choice, especially if you believe that Derrick Johnson will be back on a new contract that could be two or three years. That said, Josh Mauga is on a contract with two years left, that could be released at any point. In addition, Johnson is not going to last forever, so the Chiefs must be ready for that inevitable day.

There are some very nice options at inside linebacker, led by Alabama Crimson Tide star Reggie Ragland. Ragland is easily the best inside linebacker in the country, which makes you think that he will be off the board in the first dozen picks. Still, there are guys like Scooby Wright out of the University of Arizona who could be a quality selection.

One very intriguing name is Jaylon Smith from the University of Notre Dame. Smith was going to be a top-15 selection before tearing knee ligaments at the end of the season. Smith is going to make some team very, very happy should Smith be able to rebound from the injury.

Next: Quarterback
