Coffee with the Chiefs – Who stays, who goes?
Good morning, Addicts! It’s HUMP DAYYYYYYYY. Hopefully this finds you well as we move toward the middle of the work week. I don’t know where all of you live, but I’m in Chicago, and it is too cold to even look outside. Unfortunately, I walk/bike about a mile to work, so I’m about to freeze.
Regardless, the Kansas City Chiefs are settling into the offseason and hopefully will make some moves to keep the fan base happy. Of course, this is the most passionate fan base around, so I don’t expect every move to go over with mass applause. In any case, it should be entertaining if nothing else.
Here is the news you need to know…
Tamba Hali, Derrick Johnson and Eric Berry want to come back – Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star
"But after the Chiefs’ 27-20 loss to New England on Saturday, all three noted that they wanted to return to Kansas City in 2016, with the most notable, perhaps, being the 32-year-old Hali, who was battling a balky right knee that kept him from practicing most of the season."
Chiefs face key offseason questions – Dave Skretta of the Associated Press
"The 28-year-old Smith has become a standout in the secondary, a physical cornerback who perfectly fits the man-to-man defense of coordinator Bob Sutton. Smith was one of the first notable free agents to sign when Dorsey and Reid took over, and has professed his love for the club. Then again, physical cornerbacks in their prime demand a hefty price tag."
Offseason checklist for Kansas City Chiefs – Eric Eager of Pro Football Focus
"The Kansas City Chiefs broke through in many ways in 2015. From fighting through a very slow start, to winning their first playoff game since 1993, the franchise proved that they belong in the AFC contender conversation moving forward. Upgrades along the offensive line and at wide receiver, along with retaining some of their key defenders, should help them continue to fulfill the promise present since the Andy Reid era started with nine straight wins to begin the 2013 season."
