NFL news: Around the league in 32 plays

Buffalo Bills: The Bills made a pair of coaching hires this week by adding Rex Ryan’s brother Rob Ryan and former superstar safety Ed Reed to the staff. Rob Ryan will be the defensive coordinator and Ed Reed will be the assistant defensive backs coach.
- Author’s take: Uh…pretty sure this is the EXACT scenario that nepotism laws were put in place for.
Cleveland Browns: The Browns have hired Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson as their new head coach. Jackson was one of the hottest names on the coaching market for this offseason.
- Author’s take: I get the move for the Browns. It’s a great hire for them. What I don’t get is why Jackson would go there when there were better options. Jackson saw his name get tarnished by working for a dysfunctional organization before, so why risk it with an equally dysfunctional team now?
Denver Broncos: After recent comments by some Broncos players, the Steelers have reached out to the NFL about being observant for a possible bounty program in this week’s playoff game. Broncos players are still upset about a cheap hit from Cody Wallace the last time the teams met.
- Chiefs’ take: This game looks like it will be extremely physical, which could benefit the Chiefs a lot if they beat the Patriots.
Houston Texans: Rumors are coming out that the Texans may choose to move on from running back Arian Foster in the offseason. Foster is set to turn 30 and is coming off of a torn achilles.
Chiefs’ take
: The Chiefs may be looking to move a running back this offseason as well. Houston could be an interesting trade partner, having seen the Kansas City run game twice this season.
