The Kansas City Chiefs got some good news today as it appears WR Jeremy Maclin did NOT tear his ACL in yesterday’s playoff victory over the Houston Texans.

From ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter:

This is tremendous news for Maclin and the Chiefs. And ACL tear would have meant that Maclin’s season was over for sure. He would have been facing surgery and a long recovery process that could have stretched into early training camp.

The high ankle sprain diagnosis, however, is still pretty serious. We’ve seen high ankle sprains keep players out for multiple weeks in the past. Other times, however, players are able to get back on the field rather quickly.

It all depends on the severity of the sprain and how fast Maclin heals. He could be out for four to six weeks or he might be able to get back sooner.

Right now the WR’s status for next Saturday’s game is questionable. Still, the fact that Maclin could potentially still return and play for the Chiefs this season is tremendous news. The Super Bowl is four weeks away so, just saying, ya know…
