This is it. The Kansas City Chiefs are taking on the Houston Texans on Saturday afternoon at NRG Stadium, with all the marbles on the line. Should the Chiefs win, they will either travel to New England or Denver next weekend. A loss, and they are home for the duration.

If you are not excited for this game, than you do not have a pulse. Kansas City comes into the postseason as the hottest team in football, winning 10 straight and many of them in blowout fashion.

Houston is also playing good football, taking down seven of its last nine. The Texans defense has been very hot, allowing fewer than 11 points in each of their last three games.

Ultimately, this game likely comes down to who makes the fewest mistakes. The defenses are both terrific, but the advantage on offense points to the Chiefs. Alex Smith is substantially better than Brian Hoyer, and has the legs to create first downs that otherwise would be punts. This might be the most overlooked part of Smith’s game, and something that could and probably will come to the forefront on Saturday.
