Well here we are, Addicts. It’s playoff week and our boys in red and gold are officially contending for a Super Bowl. As we say goodbye to the 2015 season, one thing is for sure; it will be forever remembered. No season in Kansas City Chiefs history was quite like this one.

Sure, we have seen several seasons start off rocky similar to a 1-5 record but the outcome was oh so different.

It was covered a bit in my last article but there’s something special about this year’s Kansas City team. It has a hunger and resilience that I haven’t seen in a long time. Maybe the last time I saw a team with this kind of swagger was the 2003 edition. They were built differently as that was one of the best offenses in Chiefs history but they were similar in grinding out games with player leadership and coaching experience.

It would be a luxury for all good teams to be able to blow out every team they play but that’s not case. There are times when a good team has an opponent that will stand toe-to-toe with them to the very end and Kansas City was no exception.

Oct. 5, 2003 gave us the perfect example. Kansas City had a real battle on their hands with the Denver Broncos. Back and forth the two undefeated teams went. At one point Kansas City was down 20-10 but the Chiefs stormed back and won the game with Dante Hall’s human joystick punt return in the final minutes, covering 94 yards.

The following week would be another challenge as this resilient bunch found themselves losing in one of the toughest environments in football, Green Bay. After trailing 31-14 in the fourth quarter, Kansas City scored 20 points to take the game into overtime where the Chiefs ended up winning.

The 2015 Chiefs have that same attitude, where the NFL buried them and left them for dead in Week 6 after suffering their fifth straight loss. However, Kansas City crawled out of it’s grave like something out of a horror movie and chased down victim after victim to earn 10 straight wins.

Now these living dead Chiefs are heading to Houston to seek out their next victim.
