Chiefs practice: Jeremy Maclin returns and more

The Kansas City Chiefs are hitting the practice field for the second consecutive day while getting ready for the Houston Texans on NRG Stadium, and there is a notable change in the lineup.

After sitting out Tuesday’s practice with a hip contusion that was suffered in the second half of Sunday’s win over the Oakland Raiders, wide receiver Jeremy Maclin will be back on the field. Maclin is obviously a huge player for Kansas City and without him, the Chiefs would be in all sorts of trouble. Maclin leads the team in receiving yardage, touchdowns and receptions.

On another front, the Chiefs are still without safety Husain Abdullah (personal reasons), center Mitch Morse (concussion), and outside linebackers Dee Ford (concussion) and Tamba Hali (knee/rest). Look for Hali to play on Saturday, and there is a good chance Abdullah will be ready to go provided his personal issues don’t stand in the way.

Finally, offensive tackle Jah Reid and outside linebacker Justin Houston will be practicing once again. It seems a certainty – barring any major steps backward – that both will be starting in Houston. This will be the first time that Houston sees the field since Week 12, when he sustained a hyperextended knee against the Buffalo Bills.
