Reviewing Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West
The Kansas City Chiefs are in the playoffs!! That is a joyous sentence to be writing, especially after the well documented early season troubles of this Kansas City team. Andy Reid deserves the upmost credit for such a turnaround, especially from many on this site who were seriously doubting his credentials after the woeful 1-5 start.
Big Red’s play calling has improved significantly from early in the season. He has reduced the number of screens, the number of passes short of the first down marker and has been able to incorporate a rushing game that is in the top echelons of the NFL. The running game in particular has been a lovely surprise.
After Jamaal Charles went down in Week 5 in a horrendous loss to the Chicago Bears many thought the season over, and the run game in particular, in grave danger. However, much to the joy of Chiefs’ kingdom, the ‘Next man up’ attitude, which is so often banded around the NFL, has been truly representational of the Chiefs’ backfield. The two protagonists of such an ideal are Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware, both unheralded and unproven, and yet, when given the chance, both look like top class running backs.
