Coffee with the Chiefs – Go for the West

facebooktwitterreddit

Good morning, Addicts! It’s HUMP DAYYYYYY. The Kansas City Chiefs will get back to work on Wednesday afternoon, and hopefully we get some good news on the statuses of Tamba Hali, De’Anthony Thomas, Husain Abdullah and Justin Houston.

This is the last week of practice before the playoffs, something that has everybody who roots for this team splitting at the seams. Kansas City is favored by 7.5 points over the incoming Oakland Raiders, who are trying to spoil a party at Arrowhead Stadium for our conquering heroes.

Here is the news you need to know…

Chiefs must try to win the AFC West this Sunday Adam Teicher of ESPN

"Recently I suggested the Kansas City Chiefs would be better off as a wild-card playoff entrant as opposed to being the AFC West champion. The matchup against the AFC South champions, most likely the Houston Texans, is so appealing it is worth playing on the road as opposed to playing against a stronger opponent at Arrowhead Stadium in the first round of the playoffs."

Kansas City playoff tickets go on sale today Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star

"It remains to be seen if the Chiefs will host a home playoff game — that depends on a variety of factors on the final weekend of the regular season — but optimistic fans will have an opportunity to purchase home playoff tickets this week."

Derrick Johnson talks about the Chiefs’ run to the playoffsDon Banks of Sports Illustrated

"I spoke with Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson—the team’s longest tenured player along with fellow 2005 draft pick Dustin Colquitt, the team’s punter—on Tuesday morning about his team’s remarkable comeback this season. Like his team, Johnson has rallied in 2015, after suffering a season-ending Achilles tear in Week 1 of last season. The three-time Pro Bowler has been perhaps Kansas City’s most consistent player this year and is one of the faces of the franchise."
