Coffee with the Chiefs – So much news…

Good morning, Addicts! I hope all of you are having a merry Christmas Eve as we settle into the start of Week 16 with the Oakland Raiders hosting the San Diego Chargers. While the game means nothing for either of those teams, it is always nice to watch a couple of AFC West foes beat on each other.

The Chiefs enter their second day of practice for the week, getting ready for the Cleveland Browns. On Wednesday, the team was without Husain Abdullah (concussion), Tamba Hali (thumb) and Justin Houston (knee). Hopefully, that trio continues to heal while De’Anthony Thomas and Jeff Allen make their way back into action come Sunday.

Here is the news you need to know…

Tamba Hali is day-to-day with a broken thumbAdam Teicher of ESPN

"Hali broke his right thumb in this past Sunday’s win over the Baltimore Ravens, and Tuesday he underwent surgery in which three screws were implanted in the thumb. The Chiefs will determine his availability for the game against the Browns later in the week."

Marcus Peters on a mission to put past behind himDave Skretta of the Associated Press

"After his second pick-6 of the season on Sunday in Baltimore, Peters has firmly placed himself in the defensive rookie of the year race. He was just voted to the Pro Bowl, and was the AFC defensive player of the week after helping Kansas City to its eighth straight victory."

Justin Houston remains out as season winds downJoel Thorman of Arrowhead Pride

"This is Week 16 so if Houston doesn’t play this week he has one more before the end of the season. I’m sure the Chiefs would like to get Houston some work before the playoffs if at all possible. But if not, as long as he’s back for the postseason … if the Chiefs make it."
