The reasons I’m picking the Kansas City Chiefs to win out and record their first playoff victory since DB Marcus Peters (1-9-93 birthday and 1-16-94 Chiefs last playoff win) was almost exactly one year old. In other words… there are so many Chiefs players who don’t even have a memory of them winning a playoff game… or losing a playoff game… so when media pundits make that point it seems irrelevant (except perhaps to a few fans who are tired of the current streak… and admittedly, that must be all Chiefs fans).

The Chiefs will win out and win at least one playoff game because:

+ All of the expansion and improvement of the organization “Overall” is now apparent… when after their first 6 games, it was nowhere to be found.

+ ILB Tamba Hali is playing like he’s 22 not 32.

+ QB Alex Smith is “managing” the game better than ever and he’s helped manage the team to 7 straight wins.

+ “West & Ware” is not a new local western wear shop but the new battering ram for coaches Doug Peterson and Andy Reid. “May the force of Martyball be with you forever.”

+ Next-Man-Up has become such a rallying cry of this team, one almost forgets they haven’t started the same offensive line all year long (someone check me on that but I believe that’s right). The point is, the once dreaded “Offensive Line” problems have been nearly a forgotten memory because of adaptability, solid play, steady development and excellent teamwork up this season.

+ WR Jeremy Maclin is just 65 pedestrian yards away from reaching 1,000 yards for the second year straight and with only three games to go… I’m throwing all my money down on #19 to win.

+ Dee Ford looks like the Superman we all hoped he’d become vs. the San Diego Chargers. In the absence of Justin Houston, Ford has learned to play a good overall game. Ford motor company’s’ motto’s seem to work for him now… “A Better Idea”… “Feel the difference”… “Go Further.” I kind of prefer… “Dee Ford, Dee Ford” said in a high pitched voice like Tattoo used to yell at the beginning of Fantasy Island (Ze Plane! Ze Plane!)

+ Derrick Johnson has returned to Pro Bowl form. Actually… he looks better than ever to me.

+ Dontari Poe is once again a force that every other team has to double-team… and Jay Howard has turned in the best overall season out of all the Chiefs defensive linemen.

+ Sean Smith and Marcus Peters look one of the better DB pairs in the league right now.

In fact, Kansas City Chiefs fans should be aware that no team in the history of the NFL has lost 5 straight then won 8 straight. I’m not saying that to send everyone off to find the closest piece of wood to knock on but to show that this team is so good they will be setting a record when they win on Sunday.

Now we’re talkin’.

What are you talkin’ about Addict fans? Have a “feeling” whether or not these Chiefs are heading to the promised land?
