Atlanta Falcons: Rumors are starting to swirl that general manager Thomas Dimitroff is on the hot seat due to the Falcons recent nose dive. However, head coach Dan Quinn is apparently safe for now and owner Arthur Blank will be looking for a GM to pair with him.
- Chiefs’ take: It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out. Dimitroff definitely allowed former Chiefs general manager, Scott Pioli, to make a lot of personnel decisions, which included adding former Kansas City players from his tenure. Pioli’s reputation is on the line just as much as Dimitroff’s.
Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens suffered a couple more big injuries with tight end Crockett Gilmore going on Injured Reserve with a back injury and defensive end Chris Canty’s season also coming to a close due to a torn pectoral muscle. The Ravens did make an interesting addition by signing quarterback Ryan Mallett.
Chiefs’ take
: KC was already a heavy favorite this week, but a little extra cushioning doesn’t hurt. I wouldn’t discount the possibility of the Chiefs getting another shot at Mallett as the Ravens really don’t have a better option.

Buffalo Bills: The Bills appear to be open to the idea of making quarterback Tyrod Taylor their long-term starter, though they are not committed to it. Buffalo’s front office is apparently fine with Taylor being “the guy”, unless someone they really like falls into their lap. On the injury front, the Bills defense took another hit by losing cornerback Stephon Gilmore for the remainder of the year.
Carolina Panthers: The Panthers search for wide receiver help led to them giving a tryout to former Chiefs first round pick Jon Baldwin. Baldwin has not been offered a contract.
- Chiefs’ take: Probably the unanimous owner of “Chiefs worst draft pick in the last 10 years” title, Baldwin has gotten opportunities elsewhere, but failed to resurrect his career.
Cincinnati Bengals: The Bengals suffered a huge blow by losing quarterback Andy Dalton to a broken thumb on his throwing hand. Linebacker Vontaze Burfict will be fined by the NFL for diving at the legs of Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger last week.
