Justin Houston visiting Dr. Andrews

The Kansas City Chiefs got some unpleasant news on Wednesday. Outside linebacker and reigning sack master Justin Houston is set to visit specialist Dr. James Andrews in Alabama to get another opinion on his knee. The word is that he could be out for the rest of the regular season.

If the Chiefs are without Houston for the rest of the regular season, they can likely survive. Kansas City only has the Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and Oakland Raiders on the schedule. Considering the weakness of those opponents combined with the play of Dee Ford, this should not be the end of the world.

However, should Kansas City make the playoffs and the Chiefs are without Houston, well … we have a problem. Houston only has 7.5 sacks this season after recording 22 in 2014, but he has still been a dominant force off the edge. If Houston is out for the duration, it is time for Ford to make his mark after being taken last year with Kansas City’s first-round pick.

Hopefully, the Chiefs get some good news from Andrews, and we can all breathe deeply.
