Dee Ford leads Chiefs to crucial win (Video)

When Dee Ford was selected with the 24th-overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, many were unsure of the reason. Ford seemed to be a duplicate until Tamba Hali moved on, but since that was only a year away, the logic was clear. Then the Kansas City Chiefs retained Hali, and Ford’s role became unclear.

Ford has been on the bench for most of his two-year career, but he showed why he was a first-round pick on Sunday. Ford was absolutely brilliant against the San Diego Chargers, recording three sacks and providing great coverage on the final play of the game. Ford was a terror off the edge, giving  absolutely nothing to San Diego throughout the game.

The best part of his game? Ford’s motor. Throughout the afternoon, Ford was everywhere. He made a nice tackle in third quarter on a scrambling Philip Rivers, forcing a field goal. Then there were the trio of sacks, including one that was flat-out nasty.

The Chiefs have to be elated with Ford. What an incredible contest when they needed their youngster the most.
