The Kansas City Chiefs are hoping for their sixth straight win on Sunday, when they host the San Diego Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs beat the Chargers 33-3 three weeks ago at Qualcomm Stadium, but they will be without some key players this time around.
The inactives have been released by the team, and there are no surprises. Offensive lineman Jeff Allen will be sitting out with a balky ankle, while outside linebacker Justin Houston continues to nurse his hyperextended knee. Defensive end Mike DeVito, receiver/returner De’Anthony Thomas and safety Husain Abdullah are also out, all with concussions.
On the San Diego side, it will be missing plenty of pieces including cornerback Brandon Flowers, defensive end Corey Liuget, receivers Steve Johnson and Keenan Allen, and guard D.J. Fluker. Philip Rivers is playing, but he is dealing with a foot injury along with a nasty flu.
The other problem is the weather. The forecast is calling for rain throughout the day, and it is pouring at Arrowhead. Everyone just has to hope that neither team suffers a major injury and the Chiefs have to make sure to protect the football, something the team is normally great about.
Here’s to going 8-5. Go Chiefs!
